Glass Cannon Unplugged and Genuine Entertainment are teaming up with EA and Respawn to release a board game based on the popular video game Apex Legends. The Kickstarter campaign for Apex Legends: The Board Game will start on May 17th.

The game is designed for 2-4 players, but can be played with more using planned expansions. Players will take on the role of one of four distinct Legends included in the core box - Wraith, Gibraltar, Bloodhound, and Bangalore - and attempt to eliminate other players or teams over an approximately 60-minute play session.

The exact format of the board and gameplay is yet to be revealed, but the press release promises that tactical play will take place on a fully-immersive, three-dimensional environment based on the video game. Each Legend will have unique abilities and access to limited resources that they can pick up during play.

Additional Legends and a line of modular maps will be available in add-ons and expansions, as part of a roadmap of content for the tabletop adaptation. However, no details have been provided on which maps and Legends will be added and when.

Glass Cannon Unplugged, a new board game studio comprised of industry veterans, previously created the Frostpunk board game, which launched a Kickstarter campaign last year. The studio is also working on a Dying Light board game.
